Snow!
We had our one snow day for the year today. The school district is trying something new this year, they're alerting everyone by phone when school is closed. Even though I was expecting classes to be cancelled it was still jarring to have the phone ring at 5 o'clock in the morning. I would rather the school be a little more computer savvy and utilize Facebook or at the very least, put together a decent website because if the phone rings between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., well, that could only mean bad news.
Except for this morning. This morning was great. We slept in, enjoyed coffee and hot chocolate and watched the snow fall, made cookies and played with Indie in the snow. I got caught up on some homework and Thomas got an extra day to recover from a weekend cold. And best of all, no chemistry class for me today!

What I've Been Up To
I was 38 years old the first time I saw the ocean.
That was back in March. I sat in the sand and watched my husband and our two sons play in the Atlantic. If someone could pay me to sit on the beach and read all day I’d jump on that job in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, that job doesn’t exist. I should know, I’ve been checking the classifieds for that dream job since I graduated from University of Arkansas at Little Rock back in 1995 with a degree in English.
In the meantime, I’ve been moving from city to city, changing diapers, watching 6 seasons of Lost, shuffling to soccer and baseball practices, buying approximately 1,185 boxes of goldfish crackers, and doing yoga throughout it all to help maintain my sanity.
Somewhere during that time I decided I wanted to be a physical therapist so here I am…another first at 38…my first semester at Arkansas Tech University.
I wrote that for my computer class back in the fall for an 'All About Me' assignment. I got a perfect score for that--a whole 5 points. I actually finished that class with a perfect score which isn't really something to brag about since it was just a basic intro class. I wish I could say I did as well in Chem I but I finished with a C. Thank goodness for bonus points and an A in lab!
This semester I'm taking Physiological Psychology and Chem II. Wish me luck!

Happy Epiphany!
It is finally the 12th and last day of the Christmas season. Time to put away the decorations, bake a King's Cake, and watch the kids open one more gift...a WWE belt and a Cars 2 track are suitable substitutions for frankincense and myrrh, right?

Pinterest Inspired

One of my friends on Facebook recently discovered the site and asked one day, "Can someone explain to me the obsession with Pinterest?" Apparently, she just wasn't in to it. I, on the other hand, love it. It's a part of my winding down routine, crawling into bed each night with my iPad and scrolling through all the beautiful, funny, delicious things found on the internet. There's a lot of really neat crafts that I will never get around to making but when I saw a balloon/chalk/kids picture I just had to recreate it with my own 2 boys.
