Lexie wants everyone to know that the Iditarod started the first Saturday of March and around one thousand dogs were busy making the run from Anchorage to Nome last week in Alaska. That's a 1131 mile trip. She would also like you know that she once traveled from Houston to Little Rock in a Ford Contour. It was grueling, but after stopping at a McDonalds for a pee and water break, she made it just fine.
Lexie was rooting for the 2 all-siberian teams in this years race: Rob Loveman, a 52 year old nuclear physicist and Blake Matray, a 41 year old Air Force Academy grad. Both are rookies and not having the best of luck this year. As a matter of fact, Loveman withdrew a couple of days ago and Matray is in second to last position.
The winner of last year's Last Great Race on Earth was Lance Mackey. And as of an hour ago, his team was in the lead with just over 200 miles left to go.
In the meantime, Lexie will be on the back porch if you need her.
All that thinking about the Iditarod makes a pup VERY tired!!
ReplyDeleteWow I can not imagine traveling that many miles whew I would be like Lexi lounging on the back porch snoozing away!!!
ReplyDeleteIs it wrong that I want to be curled up like that, snoozing away on your porch?
ReplyDeleteA little? Okay.
Thinking about the Iditarod makes me tired. I can't imagine actually doing it, and I wouldn't have to do any of the pulling either.
ReplyDeleteI think Lexie has the right idea!
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny!! And your dogs are gorgeous. Thanks for putting the smile on my face, I'm having a rotten day.
ReplyDeleteYou rock Ali.
So cute! Do you have to brush them everyday?
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by! It is kind of strange to meet another Arkansas blogger by chance.
ReplyDeleteWhy does everyone name their dog Lexi?? That's my daughter's name.
LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up!
ReplyDeleteAnd I so love the pictures of your dogs they are so cute!
So how many more huskies do you need to race?!
ReplyDeleteLexi is so adorable. I love the sleep photo.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! This is hilarious!! My cousin actually did the iditarod several years ago!!
ReplyDeleteSo.. about your SIL and her baby and not like Baby Einstein.. seriously!! How old is the kid? Like newborn or something!! LOL!
Oh, they are just so beautiful! I wanted a S.Husky but the guy at the rescue would not adopt us one. Something about us being too laid back(lazy) and them needing lots of exercise. Looks like yours are getting lots of exercise. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful dog! Unfortunately, Eddie would die a slow and cold death if he were to try - we just shaved (and by "shave" I mean "butchered") his hair last week!
