Smoooooooch! Right On The Kisser!

I was reading one of the uber Daddy bloggers one day when he mentioned that when his daughter was born, he and his wife made the decision to never kiss her on her lips.

Huh? Wha?

I know that as parents we are faced with numerous issues--breastfeeding, co-sleeping, spanking, daycare--but I had no idea kissing your kids on the mouth was an issue. I'm not judging. I'm sure his daughter will grow up to be a well-adjusted adult while my boys are headed straight to therapy. After all, I sneak into their rooms at night and clip their toenails while they're sleeping. But I just can't imagine not kissing my 2 knuckleheads on the lips. It's not something I'm going to do forever, of course, and at 6- and 8-years old I realize my kissing days are numbered BUT until then I'm going to keep on kissin'.

  1. I remember at my wedding in June when they kept saying 'you may now kiss the bride' and then they would kiss me on the lips! I loved that!

  2. I think when mine were little I did kiss them on the lips, now with Nick I'm lucky to kiss him on the head, but he does like to hug and snuggle.
I probably hug and kiss each of my kids many times a day.
I love the sneaking in to trim their toe nails......so funny!!
My kids will be in therapy too I guess.

  3. My 3 year old gets 1,000 kisses a day all over his face, haha - which is no different than my oldest received when he was that age.

  5. I see no problem with kissing them on the lips. Although I will dodge him, especially if he just finished eating or playing outside.
I thought I was the only one (sneaking at night to clip nails), he just won't let me clip them other time.
