Look at what my poor boys had to eat yesterday. Those are supposed to be grilled cheese sandwiches.
Since Starbucks will be doing away with their peppermint mochas soon, I wanted to surf the net for copycat recipes. I already had the ingredients for a mocha, plus I had found some peppermint extract in the cabinet. I just needed to quickly check on how to make a peppermint syrup. Unfortunately, the words "quickly" and "surf the net" don't really go together.

GOD! I love me some peppermint mocha!!! I get the Frappucino version...dammit, that's good.
ReplyDeleteMMMMM STARBUCKS!!
ReplyDeleteThey do offer the mint chocolate chip year round. I get the frappucino version and if they truly make it right it comes with chocolate whip cream and sprinkles. It taste more like a thin mint but it might get you through until next year.
Aren't those how grilled cheese sandwiches are supposed to look? Mine always look like that! lol
ReplyDeleteI dont get it...
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with them?
Happy New Year!!
Jay
They'll grow up and LOVE well done grilled cheese....nothing will ever compare.
ReplyDeleteI love really toated grilled cheese, but that's just a little too burned for my taste.
ReplyDeleteThat's how my grilled cheese sandwiches usually look. LOl! Well in my house anyway. But I can burn things in the microwave too.
ReplyDeleteYou can scrape that burned layer off. It works, I know from experience!
ReplyDeleteBah ha ha ha! I do that ALL the time. I was making enchilada the other night and needed to melt some butter for the sauce. I stepped over to my computer for "just a sec" and returned to the stove to smoking, blackened butter. Needless to say, I had to start over.
ReplyDeleteThe cheese made it tastier inspite I bet! :) I love Starbucks Orange Mocha which was a limited edition. I wish they'll bring it back. Anyway, hopped on over here from MBC. Happy New Year Ali!

ReplyDeleteI can't say that I haven't burnt grilled cheese sandwiches to a crip before either...but I can honestly say I have never thrown one away...I can't when I know there is still chese between those blackend pieces of bread!
ReplyDeleteOHHHH Ali, those poor boys! :)
ReplyDeleteThat was very good of them to eat it anyhow, and I love Starbucks!! :)
Scrape off the burnt and go for it, toasted cheese is still good!
ReplyDeleteMy passion is the white chocolate peppermint mocha....yummm. I thought I saw that peppermint syrup for sale at Starbucks recently.
Ok, so what did you find? any good copycats?
So was it worth it? LOL! Of course! They will appreciate when they are older with their mommy can make a dreamy peppermint mocha!
ReplyDeleteI actually purchased some of the peppermint syrup from starbucks but I just can't get it to taste the same, poor boys!
ReplyDeleteI kind of like my grill cheese burned a bit, the same goes for my marshmellows and BBQ'd hotdogs. I know, its gross.
ReplyDeletetry KopyCat.com, I usually find the best things on that site :).
ReplyDeleteHi from SITS.
Hi from SITS!
ReplyDeleteYou need to get one of those electric griddles because there are never any sandwiches that look like that. They'll be restaurant beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat is how Cheese sandwiches are suposed to be, in fact my mouth is watering now! yum!
ReplyDeleteEh....those are fine! You jujst scrape the black off with a butter knife then they are good to go!
ReplyDeleteI love starbucks....love it.
You're always blogging about food! How do you stay so thin?
ReplyDeleteSo did you boys eat the burned sandwhiches?
Happy 2009!
Hey, a little extra crunchiness to the grilled cheese never hurt anyone!
ReplyDeleteAh, a little burnt bread is good for the boys. It'll put hair on their chest.
ReplyDeleteI would just go online and buy the peppermint syrup from Starbucks...I bought the gingerbread and I LOVE it. Of course it doesn't taste the same as if they make it for you!
ReplyDeleteAnd...my kid would just look at me like I was crazy if I tried to get him to eat that...I try to put the burnt side down, but usual dad gets that one (there is always ONE in the batch!).
