Reason #45

I have a series on my blog where I list reasons why I'm a bad mother. I haven't updated it in awhile which is a good sign, right? Just in case you missed it, here's a quick rundown of the many things I'm giving them to discuss with their future therapists.

Reason #114 This is where I played a horrible April Fool's joke on Big pup--I told him we were going to the drs. so he could get a shot--that left him in tears.

Reason #92 This is where I left Little pup asleep in his car seat while we all went in the house because I did not want to deal with a cranky 4 year old.

Reason #23 And this is evidence that I let my kids watch way too much TV.

Reason #87 And finally, here is what I served Little pup for breakfast the day after Halloween. Please don't look at this one.

And now I present to you Reason #45:

I let my kids sleep in cardboard boxes.

The End.

  1. What's wrong with letting them sleep in a cardboard box? Isn't this what everyone does? :)

Hey! Whatever gets them to sleep right?

BTW, love your ww! lol. me too!

  2. That should be on the GOOD MOM list. Kids love boxes. Whenever we have moved, my kids love to keep all the moving boxes and make an entire house. They go nuts when we finally make them throw it away because it is crumbling down. That goes on the BAD MOM list.

  3. I love it! Now if you were homeless, I could see where they would have issues, but instead, I'm sure they are thinking you are a cool mom!

  4. Funny. I guess I have competition form mom of the year...

My son loved cardboard boxes - he slept in them, drew animals on them and faces and they were his friends. I recycled one of his friends and he cried for days. Luckily I think he's forgotten or repressed the memory for future therapy!

    Happy Thursday!

  8. I think all those things make you a wonderful mother LOL!!!

  9. My kids often love playing with boxes rather than expensive toys! So, my kids would love this.

  10. I don't really see anything wrong with anything on that list, should I?

  11. Well, they're sleeping aren't they? That's all that matters. Besides, give a kid an empty box and they'll keep themselves busy for hours. My boys are always begging me to keep the big empty cardboard boxes that is making it's way out into the recycling bin.

  12. LOL! You are not a bad mom! My kids love stuff like that. Forts are one of their favorite things to sleep in, right after the floor. I don't get it but if it makes them happy who cares?

  13. oh Ali that is funny but they love it and probably think u are a cool mom!

  16. Wow! More moms should put their kids in boxes! LOL!. You shouldn't ever think you're a bad mom... there are so many crazies out there and I bet although they probably make you crazy (LOL!), I'm sure you're good.

  17. As long as they don't wake up having nightmares in their cardboard box, just assume they are happy and you're not a bad mom!

  18. Doesn't everybody do Reason #45?

  19. Are they familiar with the Hobo's Creed? Love the matching jammies!

  20. That so does not make you a bad mommy! That just makes you a mommy that knows how to pick her battles and who knows the importance of sleep {no matter where it is.}

  21. When we visit my parents, my youngest insists on sleeping under the dining room table (which she makes into a tent, of course). My mom practically cries - but I have beds! I made you a bed! You don't have to sleep on the floor! She never does this at home, only at my moms. I think maybe it's because we don't have carpeting under the table. I reckon she'd salivate over a box...

  22. And the reason ALL your reasons are null and void....
Only a great mom would embrace her inner "bad mother" . I love this and you are adorable. It is one of those brilliant bloggy ideas I wish I had thought of first ;)Is it too late for you to be my mommy?

  24. From one bad mom to another...well done! :)

  25. If the cardboard boxes aren't under a bridge, I think you're okay!

  26. Wow! I never realized I was a bad mom until I read your list!LOL A mom of sons definitely does things, ahem, differently than if you'd had a daughter. Sometimes we have fun at their expense. Sometimes the occasion calls for bad food choices. Always an empty box wins over bed! I love your blog!

  29. Oh - my kids have perfectly good beds, but usually end up on the floor. I love the picture of the box bed. Looks comfortable. And it's like a fort!

  30. Are you kidding? Kids LOVE cardboard boxes! They'd probably nominate you for Mom of the Year for this one...

  31. WHAT???? You let them sleep in boxes? (Can I come and live at your house? That looks like fun.)

  32. Looks like fun! I remember when I was a kid... how I loved to sleep under self-made tents and card board boxes. It's almost like an adventure. It would be cool if they built a whole city in their bedroom and kept them up for all eternity. lol I would most likely love to sleep with them.

I guess that is the kid in me.

Trust me, it's cool for you to allow them to stay in a card board box. *thumbs up*

  33. I am with you on the kids sleeping in boxes thing. What is it with boys, my 6 yr old son always wants to make a fort and sleep in it...and I guess yours do too! Cute pic!

  34. Some of that stuff is fun! It's okay to tease your kids. And Garbage for breakfast...that HAS to be okay sometimes doesn't it? If I were too upset over stuff like that I could never leave my kids with my their dad!

  35. OMG! All of these are sooo funny! I am sure the boys love sleeping in the box. I bet they call it a "fort" or something... My sister and I used to hang sheets all around our bunk bed and sleep in sleeping bags on the floor in our "castle"... Much more fun than sleeping in bed! :)

  36. They look pretty contented in that box though. Very cute

  37. Wasn't that the original box they came in? What's the problem?
