A Bright Lure

A couple of years ago, we took the boys to the zoo for the first time. We would stroll by the animals and I'd name each one we walked past. "That's a monkey...That's a giraffe...That's a snake..." Then we stopped to watch the bobcats. "That's a bobcat," I said. Big pup looked around, puzzled. Finally, he asked, "Where's Wendy cat?"


Parents of toddlers are laughing hysterically right now. Non-parents of non-toddlers? Not so much.


And whenever I'm having a bad day, all I have to do is think about my boys and how sweet and funny they can be. And then my own dark hours aren't so dark anymore.
