Anniversary Week: A Fight

Several years ago, WD and I were on our way to a birthday dinner for his brother. Not only was it held at a restaurant we had never been to before, but it was located in a part of Little Rock that we weren't familiar with. So, with WD driving, and not knowing exactly where he was going, patience was wearing thin and tension was running high. And he foolishly picked that exact moment to tell me what he thought was the most annoying thing in the world about me.

And for the life of me I can't remember what he said. Nor does he. BUT I do remember what my response to him was.

Oh, yeah? I said, as I turned toward him in my seat, You want to know what I don't like about you? The way you chew your food. It's as if you're some sort of insect that has to inject a special solution into its prey before you can digest it.

WD: .......What?!

I love my husband. He's a wonderful father and a great provider. But if I never have to listen to him chew his food again, I'll be a happy woman.

  1. Oh Ali, I think we all have things that our spouses do that we don't like. I can't stand to hear my hubby eat ice cream, yes that's right ice cream.

  2. HAHAHAHA!!!! I wish you could remember what your annoying thing was. My hubby is smart - he refuses to ever answer that question!

  3. hahahaha! he got that eating habit from his dear old Dad! We all get over those things don't we!!
When I was first married to Robert,it took a long time for me to get used to the Swints, and viceversa! We always drove to their place for Christmas. One day we had just left the house, and a fight started! Don't remember what Robert said, but my reaction was: Oh, Well, I didn't want to go there anyway, those people never speak to me!!! So we turned around and went home again. But, time goes by, and now they are the most wonderful family, and I am truly blessed to have come into this family!!LOL!
Enjoy your Chinese dinner on friday night!!

  4. rotf!!! I am so with you ... I actually have a small mental list of the things my husband does that irk the hell out of me. I'm just afraid that he has a running novel on me.

  5. that is funny, it is funny sometimes the things we overlook but the thing my hubby does is leave his dirty socks on the floor when he comes home from work, how hard is it to put them in the hamper!

  6. LeAnn--Ice cream!! That's funny! Is he a slurper?

Jennifer--He thought I was crazy for even remembering that argument!

Judy--Oh, no, this is different. And I am not over it!

Andrea--He would be smart to keep that novel to himself!

Kristen--I know! I pick up WD's underwear off the floor everyday. I wonder if he thinks we have an underwear fairy that does that!

  8. I think I'll steal your "inject a special solution" description to use on my children. That's great!
